Cork Open Coffee Friday 5th February

February 3, 2010 · Posted in Announcements · 2 Comments

Hello all,

This weeks Cork Open Coffee will take place on Friday the 5th in The Rubicon Centre at 10am. If you need directions to the Rubicon, there is a map on their website.

There are no speakers lined up yet, if you have a new or interesting web product you’d like to show and get feedback from a techie audience either this week on in the future, please let us know in the blog comments or by responding to this email.

If you think you’ll be attending, please let us know in the blog comments so we can have an idea of numbers.

We have begun to use Mailchimp to send these email notifications to Cork Open Coffee members. The email list currently just shy of 160 members, is growing on a regular basis thanks to existing members recommending the meetings to other people. Please keep it up!

In keeping with the ‘Open’ of Cork Open Coffee, we will be publishing some email marketing data such as open rates and clicks rates on the Cork Open Coffee blog. No ones email address will be displayed on the blog, just some overview information and hopefully some useful data that might be of interest to members sending their own email marketing campaigns.

If there are any companies out there that would like to sponsor coffee for some of the meetings, please get in touch. In return you’ll get some publicity about your business on the blog, email and Twitter.

Don’t forget to follow @Corkopencoffee on Twitter!

Talk to you all on Friday,

Gordon.

This week’s OpenCoffee in The Rubicon in CIT

April 1, 2009 · Posted in Announcements · Comment

This week’s Cork OpenCoffee is in the Rubicon building in CIT from 10am-12pm.

The demo/talk slot is about a new business idea from John Peavoy, Bartosz Ptaszynski and Phoebe Bright. It is about helping companies jumpstart their software ideas. They would like to share their plans so far and hear your views on whether the business will work, and if so, what markets they could target and who they should involve.

We will ask Mr Cotton to provide the coffee and this will require a small donation from everyone to cover the cost.

Thanks again to the Rubicon for kindly hosting us.

WebMission to Silicon Valley

January 25, 2009 · Posted in Events · Comment

Last year’s very successful WebMission by UK startups to Silicon Valley followed in the footsteps of the equally successful Paddy’s Valley several months previously. I’ve been contacted by James Lawn to let everyone know that Irish start-ups are very welcome on this year’s trip.

They want to bring UK & Ireland’s top 20 fast-growing Enterprise Web Companies to San Francisco from 28 Mar to 3 Apr. Some good sponsorship means that you’d only have to pay for your flight and hotel. A word in the ear of your Enterprise Ireland D.A. may even cover half of that.

I have to say, the trip looks fantastic. This is what you can expect:

  • Facilitated meetings with key US investors
  • Meet and mingle with key Silicon Valley movers and shakers relevant to your organisation and growth plans
  • Discuss your business with leading journalists
  • Spend quality time with like-minded people in the valley
  • Explore how to succeed and grow in the US market
  • Attend Web 2.0 Expo which occurs during the same week
  • Significant VP-level engagement with WebMission sponsors

The entry requirements are as follows:

  • Be an Enterprise 2.0 company
  • Be innovative
  • Be headquartered in the UK or Ireland
  • Have 2 years trading history, or failing that, compelling fast-track potential through management team etc
  • Be able to provide references from key sponsors/industry players
  • Able to demonstrate some commitment to sustainable business practices (eg, positive environmental, social or economic outputs)
  • Be ready to do or grow business in the US OR potentially attractive to a US investor.

If you’d like to apply, have a look at www.webmission.co.uk
