Open Coffee April 5th
Cork Open Coffee in association with it@Cork European Tech Cluster is pleased to announce that
Gerry Sweeney will present the next Open Coffee meeting on April the 5th @ 10:30am, at the Rubicon building, CIT.
The title of Jerry Sweeney Cork Open Coffee Speech wil be
“A Game Changing Opportunity for IT in Cork”
Jerry has a particular interest in Cork’s fibre optic broadband infrastructure, as you may well know.
In the next few months a new fibre optic cable is to be laid from Dublin to France, passing through Cork.
This would significantly increase Cork’s importance as a data storage site, but further local distribution infrastructure would be needed. Mr Denis Collins of IBM / it@Cork will chair the meeting.
Naturally this will create new IT opportunities for Cork.
All interested parties welcome.

Free Customer Service Training
Avondhu Blackwater Partnership is co-ordinating an exciting new round of customer service training for businesses and individuals bringing the level of service in the area to the highest standard.
Training involves a half-day course for managers and supervisors and a full day course for frontline staff.
Participants gain a greater understanding of customer needs and expectations.
Training is free of charge and tailored to all business types.
Courses take place in:
· Mallow, April 17th, 2-5 pm for supervisors and April 18th, 9.30am-5pm for frontline staff and
· Blarney, April 24th, 2-5 pm for supervisors.
There are a limited number of places still remaining for both venues.

This Friday at the Rubicon
This Fridays Open Coffee talk at the Rubicon will be given by Jane Leonard, a Learning & Performance Specialist Website
she will focus on the importance of management skills in running a successful business.
It will cover the classic management areas of Planning, organising, controlling and delegating.
It won’t be preachy but it will remind people that how we manage ourselves is how we present ourselves to the world.
There will also be a presentation from Martin Forrest who is starting his own business, running self defense training for the over 60′s (the idea is that most over 60′s have a walking stick, and thus a weapon to hand!).
He will give a demonstration and has a short video presentation so it should be interesting!
